On October 30, the signing ceremony was held for cooperation between Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) and the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) in the University’s First Academic Hall. According to the cooperation agreement, the two parties will jointly construct QUST Ocean College.
Leaders from National Oceanographic Center (Qingdao), the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, and Qingdao University of Science and Technology attended the ceremony and made speeches.
QUST Ocean College was set up on the basis of former College of Marine Science and Biological Engineering, comprehensively integrating the majors of big data, marine biology, marine chemistry, and ship engineering. It is an important measure for the two parties to seek common development in a new situation in which China vigorously advocates the transformation of old driving forces into new ones, collaborative innovation of production, education and research, as well as ecological civilization construction and blue economy innovation.
The two parties will cooperate in the four areas – cultivating ocean-related talents, innovating research and academic exchanges, sharing teaching and research resources, and establishing service platform for integration of governments, industries, universities and research. Through strong alliance, this cooperation strives to become a new model of integration of science with education in China, and take the lead in the field of marine science and technology.
At the end of the signing ceremony, the leaders of the two parties unveiled the college plaque to mark the opening of the new college.
