May 15 witnessed 2019 Special Session of the Mainland Council of the Forum on Climate Change and Energy Sustainable Development across the Taiwan Strait at Qingdao University of Science and Technology. More than 20 experts and professors were present, including Xie Kechang, Chinese Academy of Engineering academician and chairman of the Mainland Council of the Forum. QUST CPC Secretary and University president Ma Lianxiang, as the executive vice chairman of the Mainland Council of the Forum, delivered the welcome speech. The meeting was presided over by Li Qingling, the general secretary of the Mainland Council of the Forum and QUST CPC deputy secretary.

Professor Li Yuming of Taipei University presented a special report on the preparation for the 15th Annual Forum on Climate Change and Energy Sustainable Development across the Taiwan Strait (2019) and the Cross-Taiwan-Strait Green Energy Summit. The meeting discussed and agreed on the academic exchange topics of the 15th Annual Forum and the list of the representatives from the mainland. On the meeting Professor Hu Yun of South China University of Technology and Associate Professor Nie Guangming of QUST were designated as deputy general secretaries. Professor Ye Daiqi, Dean of the School of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology, delivered a speech as the organizer of the 16th Annual Forum (2020).

The participants also witnessed the signing ceremony of the cooperation between the Institute of Climate Change Energy Sustainable Development of QUST and China Petrochemical Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.
