Recently, according to the Notification of the 16 Newly-approved Postdoctoral Research (DHRSS〔2014〕No.536) issued by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security (DHRSS) of Shandong Province, Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) was approved to establish the Postdoctoral Research Center of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics after being recommended by Shandong Province, evaluated by the expert group of the National Postdoctoral Management Committee (NPMC), and finally decided by DHRSS and NPMC. This is the fifth postdoctoral research center approved, marking the further improvement of our discipline construction and personal training system, providing new platform and motivation for the development of QUST, and thus playing an important role in cultivating, recruiting and reserving high-level talents.
The postdoctoral system of China was established in 1985, proposed by Nobel laureate Li Zhengdao (Tsung-Dao Lee). The system allowsinstitutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes or enterprises to establish postdoctoral research mobile station or postdoctoral research working station to take in outstanding youth with doctorate to conduct research for a certain period at the stations. Itaims at attracting, cultivating and employing high-level talents, especially innovative talents, to build a flexible mechanism in favor of talent flow and promote the combination of production, teaching and research.
So far, QUST has five postdoctoral research centers in the fields of chemistry, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, and power engineering and engineering thermophysics, with 45 postdoctors in these centers.
