According to the Notice on the Establishment of Third Batch Featured Majors of Universities and Colleges Approved by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, the major of polymer materials and engineering of QUST was approved as one of the third batch national featured majors by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance.

Building up featured majors in universities and colleges is an integral part of the Undergraduate Teaching Quality Improvement and Reform Project of Universities and Colleges implemented by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, as well as an important measure to optimize the structure of specialties, improve talents cultivation, and establish major uniqueness. The main tasks are to strengthen the construction of curriculum system and teaching materials, reform talents cultivation plans, improve practical teaching and teaching teams, promote specialties construction considering the national and regional economic and social demands for talents, and set an effective model for similar universities or colleges in their specialties construction and reform.

According to Financial Support for QUST Undergraduate Teaching Quality Improvement and Reform Project of Universities and Colleges, the university will financially support the featured major of polymer materials and engineering by a proportion of 1:1 complying with the central special budget standard, which is worth 400,000 RMB in total.
