QUST held the opening ceremony for the Campus Activity of Excellent Chinese Traditional Culture at Art Museum in LaoshanCampus. Deputy party secretary of QUST, Zhang Yuanli, director of Cultural Industry Management Committee of Gaomi, Shao Chunsheng, head of the Department of Culture, Radio, TV and Pressof Gaomi, Xu Ming, director of Gaomi Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Wang Jinxiao, Gaomitraditional papercutting artist Qi Xiuhua attended the ceremony, director of the Publicity Department of Party Committee of QUST, Ren Yunxiaohosted the ceremony.
This month-long Activity started on Nov. 1st, and will last to Nov. 30th. The activity theme isto inherit quintessence of traditional culture, cultivate honesty and morality, and be aspiring youth with five virtues. During the event, several activities will be organized, such as “The Day of Folk Customs and Culture of Gaomi”, “Appreciation of Classical Chinese Folk Music”, “Appreciation of Chinese Tea Ceremony”, “Chinese Classics Reading”, “Chinese Folk Art Performance”and “Confucian Culture Forum of QUST”.
Gaomi is known as “the hometown of folk art”, which is famous for its traditional Spring Festival paintings with gray flutter, paper cuttings and Niejiazhuang clay sculpture. They are Gaomi’s protection items of intangible cultural heritage, which are called “the three most unique folk arts”. There were 50 traditional Spring Festival paintings with gray flutter, 30 paper cuttings and 12 Niejiazhuang clay sculptures displaying for students and teachers. After the ceremony, teachers and students enjoyedthese folk arts, and Qi Xiuhuademonstrated her exquisite paper-cut art on the site.
