On the morning of July 9th, A Symposium on the Occasion of Academician Lei Qingquan’s Eighty Birthday and His Fifty-fifth Anniversary of Teaching was held in Laoshan Campus of Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST). Leaders of QUST Liu Xingyu, Ma Lianxiang, Chen Kezheng, and Lv Wanxiang, Kong Xintian, deputy director of Qingdao Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee and chairman of Xi'an Jiaotong University Qingdao Alumni Association, representatives from the Qingdao Alumni Association of Harbin University of Science and Technology, student representatives of Lei Qingquan attended the Symposium. Vice President Lv Wanxiang presided over the Symposium.
At the Symposium, QUST Party Secretary Liu Xingyun delivered a passionate speech and QUST President Ma Lianxiang presented a souvenir to Academician Lei Qingquan.
Student representative of Lei Qingquan, Professor Zheng Wei of Harbin University of Science and Technology, presented flowers to Lei Qingquan academician. And birthday gift was given to Lei Qingquan by teachers and students of Materials College of QUST.
Kong Xintian, Yu Zhongqing, general manager of Qingdao Haier Software Co. Ltd., student representative Chen Peiyun, President of Qingdao Hanhe Cable Co., Ltd made speeches respectively.
Lei Qingquan academician recalled his over 50 years’ teaching and research, concerning his hardworking experience from the rural poverty-stricken environment to his work at universities. He also gave an academic report with the title of “A Super Electrical Insulator Prototype --- one-dimensional gas-solid sodium aluminate cellular”.
Heads ofthe President Office, Organization Department, Propaganda Department, Personnel Department, Dean’s Office, Science and Technology Department, Graduate School, Materials College, Higher Polymer Material College, Automation College and representatives of teacher and student from Materials College also attended.
