On the 19th of September, the opening ceremony for foreign students of the first semester of 2008-2009 was held at the conference room of the Building of College of Electromechanical Engineering. Mr. Li Qingling, the Vice President of QUST and some officers and teachers from International Exchange and Cooperation Office (IECO), etc attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Mr. Li Qingling warmly welcomed all the foreign students to QUST and briefly introduced the university: history, current situation and future developmental plans. Meanwhile, he presented his new suggestions and requirements in improving the foreign students’ college life, as well as QUST education for foreign students. Mr. Wanghao, the Deputy Director of IECO, hoped that they could work hard to better understand Chinese culture and act as friendly messengers between countries. Teachers from IECO spoke at the meeting encouraging students to perform better in new semester, giving them advice of how to learn Chinese and pointing out some requirements and issues that students should pay attention to.

, recalled her experience last semester of studying and living. Kang Yoon Jeong, a freshman from

, expressed her determination and confidence in learning Chinese.
Leaders of QUST also awarded scholarship and certificates to students who made outstanding performances last semester at ceremony.
