According to an announcement made the other day by the Office of Bringing in Overseas High-levelTalents to China,Central Organization Department of China, Dr. Zhao Yingjie, a core member of the TaishanScholarTeam of Dominant and Distinctive Discipline employed by Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) for full-time work, was selected into the twelfth batch of youth talents project for “the Thousand Talents Plan”. Dr. Zhao Yingjie became the first“Thousand Youth Talents Plan”expert of QUST.

Dr. Zhao Yingjie graduated from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing. Later he did his postdoctoral research at Geneva University and ETH Zurich, devoting himself to the study of two-dimensional polymer materials and functional materialsof supermoleculeetc. In recent years, over thirty of his academic papershad been published in international high-level journals, as J. Am. Chem. Soc.,Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Nature Commun.andChem.Sci.etc.

“The Thousand Youth Talents Plan” is an important part of “the Recruitment Program of Global Experts” (known as “the Thousand Talents Plan”) of Central Organization Department that initiatedsince August,2011. Centering aroundnatural science and thetechnical field of engineering, its present aim is to bring in young potential elites whocan support the great-leap-forward development of China’s science and technology and industries in the next ten to twenty years. About four hundred talents are brought in each year. The basic requirements of talents are as follows: less than 40 years old, holding a PhD degree granted by prestigious overseas universities, with formal teaching and researching positions in overseas prestigious universities, institutions or enterprises, and be able to work full time in China. Each admitted talent will be granted a one-time subsidy of 500,000 RMB(individual income tax exempt ) and 1 million to 3 million RMB of research fund.
