QUST Establishes an ETAP Power System Simulation Laboratory with OTI Company

On May 10, the unveiling ceremony of QUST ETAP Power System Laboratory was held in Sifang campus. Vice President Wei Dianhua and Mr. Jacque, the General Manager of Business and Strategy Development of OTI Company, jointly unveiled the “QUST Joint-Lab for ETAP Power System Simulation”.

On behalf of university, Wei Dianhua extended warm welcome to the guests headed by Mr. Jacque and expressed appreciation for the software donation of OTI Company. He pointed out that ETAP is the world-class power system software and the Joint-Lab will contribute to cultivating more outstanding talents. He hoped that both parties would build a long-term cooperation in research and talent’s cultivation.

Mr. Jacque introduced OTI Company and ETAP software in detail. He said that the Joint-Lab would provide a long-term cooperation platform for QUST and OTI Company, and lay asolid foundation for further cooperation in research and talent’s cultivation.

Liu Ximei, Director of CollegeofAutomation, explained the importance of ETAP power laboratory in talent's cultivation system. As a key college of QUST, students in the CollegeofAutomationmaintain a higher employment rate. ETAP software will provides more effective ways for students to solve problems and has major influence on employment and student’s future.

Wang Liang, the deputy director of Electric Operations Control Center of Shandong Grid Cooperation, and also the business representative of Shandong province, extended sincere congratulations on the establishment of the laboratory, gave a brief introduction of Shandong grid’s development in recent years and also showed strong interest in ETAP software. Chen Meng, the student representative, expressed appreciation to OTI Company and our university for establishing a high-level experimental platform for students.

In the afternoon, the Qingdao 2013 Electric Power Software Training Seminar was held in the laboratory and more than 40 researchers, teachers and students attended the seminar.

Guests from OTI, Mr. Jacque, Mr. He Zili, China Business and Development Manager, Mr. Hu Jun, China Sales Manager, Mr. Yuan Fengliang, Sales engineer,Yu Biao, Technical Engineer and over 20 representatives from Shangdong Grid Corporation, Qingdao Power Corporation, China University of Petroleum, Ocean University of China, etc. attended the ceremony. QUST Joint-Lab for ETAP Power System Simulation is jointly established by QUST and OTI Company. It is also the third ETAP Power Laboratory established by OTI Company in north China after Tsinghua Universityand Tianjin University, and the first one in Shandong province. The ETAP power software, donated by OTI Company, is worth over 4 million Chinese yuan. The laboratory signals a new step in international cooperation of QUST.
