Recently, the 2013 Enrolment Plan of QUST has been approved by Ministry of Education.QUST will enroll students from 29 provinces，municipalities and autonomous regions in China, including 4297 undergraduate students and 1200 junior college students from Shandong province. The plan increases the proportion of students from outside Shandong province, making the structure of students more reasonable.
In 2013, QUST will realize the first batch enrollment in 26 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) of China with its upgrading enrolment from the 2nd batch to the 1st batch in Sichuan Province. Four language majors, Korean, Japanese, German and Russian, are approved to enroll students before the 1st batch in Shandong province. Five new majors will start enrolling undergraduates, they are New Energy Material and Devices, Information Engineering of Smart Grid, Food Quality and Safety, Polymer Materials and Engineering (Sino-Korean joint program) and Material Shaping and Control Engineering (Sino-Korean joint program) .
Under the direction of the Outline of China's National Plan for Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020), to further improve talent cultivation quality QUST will start its “Talent Program”, “Excellence Program” and the Regulations of Major Selecting for Outstanding Students since 2013.
