On the afternoon of September 26, an Australian delegation of 8 people including Professor Stephen James Nicholas, Vice-President of Newcastle University, and Dr. Stephen Larsen, VP, Kaplan Asia-Pacific & Executive Dean, USPP, visited QUST for negotiating cooperation. Vice President Li Qingling met the guests and also present were Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Professor Li Li, and Deputy Dean, Professor Liu Shuyan and Vice Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Wang Hao.
At the meeting, Mr. Li Qingling expressed warm welcome to the Australian guests and gave a brief introduction about talents cultivation, speciality construction, subject construction and international cooperation of QUST. Mr. Li pointed out that despite the rich experiences in exchanging and cooperating with non-English speaking countries like Germany, France, Japan, Korea, there is still a great room for improving the cooperation with English speaking countries such as USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Therefore, our school has attached great importance to the visit of the Australian delegation and is looking forward to concrete development for mutual cooperation.
Professor Nicolas expressed that there are lots of possible areas of cooperation between Newcastle University and QUST due to the similarities of the two universities in school size, disciplines offered, science and technology researches and their outstanding specialities. Dr. Stephen Larsen, on behalf of Kaplan,expressed that Kaplan would like to provide a platform for and bring convenience to the cooperation between the two universities, and forwarded his best wishes.
Then Professor Li Li introduced the School of Economics and Management, and Professor Liu Shuyan explained in details about the courses, credit hours, class hours, etc.
After friendly negotiation, the two parties reached an agreement on scientific cooperation. Based on the agreement, the two parties will start exchange and cooperation in joint research, joint-holding international conferences, paper publishing, and reciprocal visits by both scholars and students.
