Recently, the General Office of People’s Government of Shandong Province has issued “The notice on the publication of the lists of talent team and leading personnel of preponderant and characteristic discipline of Taishan Scholars” (LuZhengBan [2016] 224). The Chemical Engineering and Technology Subject of Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) was rated as a preponderant and characteristic discipline of Taishan Scholars, the team of ecological and chemical process and technology a talent team of preponderant and characteristic discipline of Taishan Scholars, and professor WANG Dan a leading personnel of Talent Team of Preponderant and Characteristic Discipline of Taishan Scholars. Until now, there have been two preponderant and characteristic disciplines of Taishan Scholars, two talent teams and two leading personnel of talent team of preponderant and characteristic disciplines of Taishan Scholars in QUST.

In December 2013, to thoroughly implement the construction project of “Taishan Scholars”, the Organization Department of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Education Department and Department of Finance of Shandong have jointly launched “A Support Plan for Talent Team of Preponderant and Characteristic Discipline of Taishan Scholars” to encourage its universities to bring in and steadily support groups of first-class leading personnel teams from home and abroad in order to mobilize universities of the province to enter into the domestic first class or international advanced level in their academic and scientific innovation.

After the launch of A Support Plan for Talent Team of Preponderant and Characteristic Discipline of Taishan Scholars, QUST pays high attention and successfully brings in the Leading Personnel Team head by Professor LI Zibo after strictly meeting the implementation requirements of the Plan. Relevant departments and institutes of QUST take vigorous actions and make great efforts to successfully introduce another leading personnel who is the winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (NSFDYS) --- professor WANG Dan in line with the principles of “One Discussion for One Case” and “One Discussion for One Person” decided by the Leading Group of HR Work of Shandong Province. It is another breakthrough of the construction project of “Taishan Scholars” and provides further support of top-level talents for QUST ‘Double First Class’ Construction and its high-level university construction with ‘spirit, culture, responsibility, vigor and characteristic’.
