2018 Forum for Interdisciplinary Integration and Educational Practice under the Vision of "New Engineering" Took Place at QUST
On October 20th, the “2018 Forum for Interdisciplinary Integration and Educational Practice under the Vision of ‘New Engineering’" took place in Qingdao. The Forum was sponsored by the Advisory Board of Mechanical Majors of Higher Learning and the Advisory Board of Mechanical Basic Courses under the Ministry of Education, and jointly organized by the College of Electromechanical Engineering(CEE)of Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) and Huazhong University of Science & Technology Press. Ma Lianxiang, General Secretary and President of QUST, QUST Vice-Secretary Zhang Yuanli, and QUST Vice-President Zhang Shuhua attended at the Forum by invitation. Duan Baoyan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and experts from universities like Dalian University of Technology gave excellent presentations. Over 240 specialists and scholars from 106 colleges and universities from all over the country attended the Forum, and representatives of teachers and students from the CEE of QUST were also present.
At the Forum, around the topic of “Interdisciplinary Integration and Educational Practice under the Vision of ‘New Engineering ’”, experts and scholars gave presentations and had deep discussion. At the opening ceremony, in his speech, Ma Lianxiang introduced three priority areas of work for strengthening the constructionofnew engineering done by QUST: to adjust the discipline layout for docking industries, to actively carry out accreditation of engineering education, and to vigorously implement the strategy of internationalizing its education.
The Forum has made QUST have more clear ideas in accelerating its formation of discipline characteristics, further promoting the running of the four new colleges such as the Intelligent Manufacturing Institute, realizing the professional and industrial resonance, promoting accreditation of engineering education and engineering talent cultivation.
