On the afternoon of May 23, a delegation of Thai government headed by Mr. Phinij Jarusombat,chairman of the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association visited Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST), accompanied by Ms. Zhou Lu, Vice Director of the Secreariat of Qingdao Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and Zhang Yan, Manager of Rubber Valley Co., Ltd. The delegation has 14 members, including the deputy head Mr. Teravuti Boonyasopon, president of Northern Bangkok Royal University of Science and Technology (NBRUST).QUST President Ma Lianxiang met the guests in CDTF ’s meeting room.

President Ma Lianxiang extended his warm welcome to the guests and gave a brief introduction to QUST. He pointed out,with a history of over 60 years, keeping its “Rubber Characters” of Hardworking, Persistent, Honest, Dedicated, Cooperative and Responsible, and through integrating “politics, teaching, research, and production”, QUST has developed into a multidisciplinary university with outstanding specialties. President Ma hoped that QUST would expand cooperation areas with NBRUST and realize win-win development.

Mr. Phinij Jarusombat highly commended the achievements made by QUST in education and research, and expressed willingness of future exchanges and cooperation in higher education between both countries. He emphasized that the successful cooperation in higher education would not only benefit our two countries, but make a profound influence on the educational cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.

The Deputy Head, President Mr. Teravuti Boonyasopon of NBRUST,gave a brief introduction to NBRUST in education, research and international cooperation by an introduction video of his university. He pointed out that NBRUST has acknowledged the great achievements made by QUST in rubber industry, and this visit aimed at reaching the educational and researching cooperation agreements with QUST and Rubber Valley Co., Ltd.

Following their talks, the guests visited the laboratories of College of Electromechanical Engineering and CDTF accompanied by President Ma.

On the afternoon of May 24, QUST, Rubber Valley and NBRUST signed the strategic cooperation agreement at Qingdao Fuxin Hotel. On behalf of QUST, Vice President Wang Wenzhe signed the agreement.

During the visit, the guests visited the Key Laboratory of Rubber-plastics Engineering in Sifang campus and Rubber Valley accompanied by Vice President Liu Guangye. Leaders from President’s Office, Postgraduate Office, College of Electromechanical Engineering, CDTF, International Exchange and Corporation Office attended the meeting.
