According to the List of 2010 Newly Added Doctor and Master Disciplines issued by the Degree Committee of PRC State Council after its 28th meeting, Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) has three primary doctoral disciplines (Material Science and Engineering; Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics; Chemical Engineering and Technology) and 10 master disciplines included. With these newly added disciplines and the professional master’s degree majors approved in recent years, QUST has now 16 PhD majors, and 112 postgraduate majors.

The increasing of PhD majors and postgraduate majors can improve the level of teaching and research of QUST. It is the base for building QUST into a world famous university of teaching and research. With more students from home and abroad, and more cooperation with foreign institutions of higher education QUST will internationalize more quickly.
