Opening Ceremony for the Freshmen of QUST held in the two campuses simultaneously on the morning of September 1st .

In 2008, Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST) enrolled 6,817 new students, including 6,224 undergraduates, 569 postgraduates, 24PhD students. President MA Lianxiang gave a welcome speech at the ceremony on behalf of QUST to congratulate and welcome the freshmen, and also introduced QUST. He said that in the long history of the university, QUST and "rubber" has forged a special relationship, rubber spirit and specialty development have always been the centers of QUST school work. QUST has focused on training students’ "self-strengthening pragmatic" style and "rubber spirit" (Enduring, Insisting, Practical, Contributing, Cooperating, Shouldering). High-quality education has won QUST “ Excellent University ” by passing Undergraduate Education Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education in 2007.

MA Lianxiang hopes that the new students will maintain the positive momentum of learning, work hard, cultivate their own interests and hobbies, and strive to become qualified high-level personnel.
