In the afternoon of 24th March, the Ceremony for the Opening of QUST SCA International Video Centre and Research Institute was held at the HD Studio of the School of Communication and Animation (SCA). Many representatives attended the ceremony, including the president of QUST, Ma Lianxiang, party deputy secretary of QUST, Wang Ruifang, vice-president of QUST, Zhang Yuanli, deputy director of the Qingdao Press and Publication Bureau, Xin Long, the president of T1 New Media Company of Korea, Ding Shunzhe, the president of Culture & Education Exchange Association of Korea and China, Zhang Zhongyun, the director of Film and Television Channel of Qingdao Radio and TV Station and the president of Qiangdao Musician Association, Xia Wentao, and a first-class national actor and the deputy president of Qingdao Film and Television Association, Yu Yong. Ma Lianxiang, Wang Ruifang, Xin Long, and Yuan Zhifa, the former editor in-chief of Guangming Daily and now the dean of SCA, jointly inaugurated the SCA International Video Art Centre.
On behalf of the QUST, Zhang Yuanli expressed warmly welcome to all visitors, showed sincere gratitude to those who have helped and supported the construction and development of QUST for a long time, and recognized all the achievements on talent training, discipline construction, and teaching staff construction for 9 years since the founding of SCA . He pointed out that with the spirit of daring to be the first, SCA has gotten lots of First in its construction and development. In 2014, the first studio-- the Big Horn Bull Animation Studio, was founded, headed by David Erik, the American animation artist and the former deputy president of ASIFA. Now, the SCA International Video Art Centre has also been set up, and the second studio-- Kim Jung-hyun International Video Art Studio, was founded by employing Korea professor Kim Jung-hyun. Zhang Yuanli also encouraged all faculty and students of the school to free their mind, inherit the spirit of QUST, practice rubber character, and grasp development opportunity to meet new challenge under the guidance of the development strategy of building high platform, gathering more talents and practicing reality.
At the ceremony, the party general secretary of SCA Wang Shiqing read the letter of congratulation sent by Zhang Shengjia, the representative of Chuangang University of Korea. Mr. Zhao Kang, the general manager of Qingdao Restone Digital Technology Company Ltd. and Professor Kim Jung-hyun from Korea gave congratulation speech respectively. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Yan Yu, the executive vice-dean of SCA. All present at the ceremony jointly enjoyed the animation movie “Legend”, which was written and planned by Yuan Zhifa and produced by SCA.
It is reported that the Center is set up with the support of QingdaoRestone Digital Technology Company Ltd. Having digital studio, directing studio, recording room, postproduction studio, and Kim Jung-hyun International Video Art Studio, the Center will be the experiment teaching training base for students, as well as a platform for production-education-research projects. It also provides facilities for video screening, film dubbing, post editing and compounding, visual effects processing, news broadcast, literature and art show, camera shooting, directing, virtual rendering etc., which can realize both the integration of teaching and learning and the unification of theory and practice. Kim Jung-hyun International Video Art Studio will center around the study of video production (commercial films and documentary films), new media and game development. It plans to make 1 or 2 films each year by inviting able and famous experts in movie field from China and Korea to join in their production.
