On the morning of June 21, the Engagement Ceremony of Employing Academician FENG Shouhua and Symposium were held at Academic Conference Hall of Polymer Building. President MA Lianxiang attended the ceremony and awarded Academician FENG the Letter of Appointment; Vice-President LIU Guangye announced the appointment decision.
MA Lianxiang extended a warm welcome to Academician FENG and spoke highly of his research findings and academic influence in the field of chemistry. Moreover, MA Lianxiang gave full recognition to the faculty and students of College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering for their contributions to the building-up of first-class discipline. And he shared his inspiration and understanding after exchanging opinions with Academician FENG in the hope that all faculty will follow the example of Professor FENG, have the concept of lifelong learning, and devote themselves to research so as to help QUST achieve "Double First-class". Academician FENG said in his speech that it was delighted to be a member of Qingdao University of Science and Technology. He encouraged faculty and students to work hard at scientific research while developing their knowledge of social science and culture, and make contributions to the development of our motherland.
After the engagement ceremony, Academician FENG gave an academic report of Hydrothermal Synthesis of New Materials. The report analyzed global research on hydrothermal synthesis and stressed its significant role in new inorganic materials. What's more, in light of practical realty, introduction to the development of hydrothermal synthesis was given, including function and hydrothermal synthesis or solvothermal synthesis of supercriticality and sub-criticality of new inorganic compounds, new microporous crystals, fast ionic conductor and composite oxides ceramics and function complex fluoride.
The ceremony was hosted by LV Wanxiang, head of Organization Department of Party Committee, QUST. Heads of QUST Office, Organization Department, Personnel Department, leaders of College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering and representatives of faculty and students attended the engagement ceremony. After the report, Academician FENG, accompanied by CHEN Fushan, Dean of College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, visited the Cultivating Base of National Key Laboratory of Eco-Chemical Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Sensing Analysis of Tumor Markers, Ministry of Education.
Resume of Academician FENG Shouhua:
FENG Shouhua, male, born on March 14th, 1956 in Panshi County, Jilin Province, Central Committee Member of Jiu San Society. In 2005, Professor FENG was selected an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the same year, he also became a member of the National Committee of CPPCC, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, the Ethics Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chemical Advisory Committee of Natural Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education. Now Professor FENG is the director of the Academic Committee of Jilin University, president of Science and Technology Association of Jilin Province, member of Standing Committee of People's Congress of Jilin Province, president of Chemical Society of Jilin Province, president of International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Chemistry Association, associate chief editor of Materials Research Bulletin, editorial board member of Journal of Solid State Chemistry（J. Solid State Chem.）and Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, associate chief editor of SCIENCE CHINA: Chemistry, Chemical Journal of Chinese Universities and Chinese Journal of Inorganic Chemistry.
Moreover, Academician FENG was awarded the first "National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars" in 1994, Outstanding Young Scholar Award of Qiu Shi Science and Technologies Foundation in 1996, the first batch of Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars Program of Ministry of Education in 1998, academic head of "Innovative Research Group" of Natural Science Foundation of China in 2001, national “Achievement Award of Returned Scholars" in 2003, “Golden Bull Award” of National Key Laboratory Advanced Individual of Ministry of Science and Technology in 2004, "Outstanding Teacher-Special Prize" of Baosteel Education Fund in 2000, Labor Models of Jilin Province and "May First Labor Medal" of both Jilin Province and Changchun City.
Professor FENG has long been engaged in the research in inorganic synthesis and materials chemistry and has made innovative and systematic research achievements in synthetic chemistry, new concept of synthesis of semiconductor and hydrothemal biochemistry. To explore the synthesis of novel materials, new methods of synthesis and formation mechanism, he has conducted systematic and in-depth research in the frontier fields of inorganic synthesis and material chemistry. The main contributions he has made includes the discovery of novel hydrothermal synthesis method of function inorganic materials, systematically carrying out the hydrothermal synthesis chemical research of inorganic functional materials, discovery and preparation of three oxidation states and atomic-scale p-n junctions, obtaining novel inorganic functional materials and revelation laws of function inorganic materials and reaction of hydrothermal synthesis of biomolecule. In addition to the above, Professor FENG has presided over several major research subjects of 973 Program, 863 Program and Natural Science Foundation of China and has published over 300 academic papers. He was awarded one Third Class Prize of the State Natural Science Award, three First Class Prizes of Science and Technology Advancement Award of Ministry of Education, one Second Class Prize of National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award. Professor FENG chaired the National Solid State Chemistry and Synthetic Chemistry and International Solid State Chemistry Seminar in 2002, the Seventh International Hydrothermal Reaction Seminar in 2003 and the Second International Hydrothermal and Solvothermal Association Academic Conference.
Academician FENG has made great contributions to the development of national inorganic chemistry, possesses noble academic status and top academic level.
